The surface of the water
So placid, so calm
Unmoving, unchanging
Then comes the rain
Slowly at first, one drop at a time
Disturbing the surface
Causing one ripple, then another
And another
Until the calm of the lake
Is a distant memory
It's alive with the different rings
Each halfed by a new one
